Coach Richard Poage

Coach Poage compiled an incredible coaching record in football of 61 wins and 26 losses—the highest winning percentage in school history. He was named the 1976 3A Football Coach of the Year, guiding the Orioles to multiple league, district, and regional championships and three playoff appearances. He also coached the 1976 State Indoor Track Championship team. Coach Poage was known for instilling discipline, pride, and the culture of the “Big Orange Machine.” Coach passed away in 2018, however his legacy was cemented when this very field was named in his honor the following year on September 27th, 2019—appropriately named Poage Field
