AUGUSTA HIGH SCHOOL HALL OF FAME Inductee: Dr. Troy D. Nordman Class: 1979

Augusta High School and USD 402 are proud to induct Dr. Troy D. Nordman into the Augusta High School Hall of Fame, honoring a distinguished career in higher education, creative storytelling, and dedicated service to the local community.

During his years at Augusta High School, Troy established a foundation of versatility and leadership as a dynamic multi-sport athlete. After graduating in 1979, he pursued higher education with relentless drive, earning his Bachelor of Arts from Wichita State University in 1984, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from Wichita State in 1989. Continually committing to scholarly excellence, he earned his Doctorate in Education (EdD) from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2017.

In 1989, Dr. Nordman joined Butler Community College, beginning a career that spans over three decades. Serving as Dean of Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, he has shaped academic programs and mentored countless students across South Central Kansas. His classroom impact earned him the prestigious Outstanding Instructor Award in 1999, 2010, and 2012.

Beyond leadership and teaching, Dr. Nordman is an accomplished filmmaker whose documentary work earned regional acclaim, including top honors at the 1999 KAN Film Festival. His lifelong dedication to education, the arts, and community leadership captures the highest traditions of Augusta High School.
