AUGUSTA HIGH SCHOOL HALL OF FAME Inductee: John Price Class: 1985

Augusta High School and USD 402 are proud to induct John Price into the Augusta High School Hall of Fame, recognizing a standout multi-sport athlete, collegiate competitor, and committed community leader.

During his career as an Oriole, John embodied ultimate athletic endurance, competing in a sport during every season across all four years of high school to earn the prestigious Bernie Taylor award. A four-year letterman in football and wrestling, a three-year letterman in baseball, and a track letterman, John served as team captain in both football and wrestling. On the mat, he was a four-time state qualifier, taking 4th place as a sophomore and culminating in an individual Kansas State Championship his senior year. On the diamond, he contributed to a state championship victory as a sophomore during back-to-back state appearances.

John’s high school accolades include 1984 All-League honors in both football (Defensive Back) and baseball (Second Base), selection to the post-season KCAC Senior All-Star football game, and the 1985 Kansas Fellowship of Christian Athletes Male Athlete of the Year. He graduated in the top 10% of his class before earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from Oklahoma Baptist University (1989) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Texas (1990).

At OBU, John was a four-year track letterman, team captain, and a five-time NAIA National Championship qualifier (three indoor, two outdoor). He earned both the OBU Competitor Award and Coach's Award, helping lead the 1988 indoor team and the 1988 mile relay squad to 5th-place national finishes.

Inducted into the Augusta High School Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016, John remains dedicated to his hometown through decades of leadership on various committees and ministry teams at First Baptist Church of Augusta.
